The field notes
Breathwork covers guided conscious breathing in all its forms: from slow coherence patterns that calm the body within minutes to strong rhythmic styles that can open real emotional depth. It needs no belief and no equipment, which is part of why it has grown so fast, and why facilitation quality matters so much.
The strong styles are not casual. A session can surface a lot, and the person guiding needs the training to hold what comes up.
- Lying down, guided by voice and often music, 60 to 90 minutes
- Physical sensations are normal: tingling, temperature, waves of emotion
- Integration time at the end is part of the work, not an extra
- A good facilitator asks about your health before you start; if they do not, that tells you something
We look for named training and modality, screening practices before sessions, and a real offering with a fixed rhythm and venue.
